So, it’s a server?    So think about it.  To the IT Director, it’s a hit in the budget line.  However, to the Tech and the Developer, it is what can it become!  What can we make it do?   What services can we make it publish?  Or, what can it CONSUME?    The little 1U rack server takes its place with the others, once the KVM and power are connected, the box breathes is first breath of OS and then a WAS is born.  Now the question comes!    Will it be used for good?  Or will sick, twisted minds forever alter the way business is done.  Shattering all barriers that stifle progress.  Break the chains that restrict us from moving to the next level of greatness!  Yes, it is a server.  And the only thing that prevents it from becoming all of this is time, thought and discovery.  That’s what development servers are all about.  I believe that we have to be excited about what we do.  Be that little kid with the big imagination.  Yes, crazy and far fetched ideas sometimes are just that.  But every once in a while, the most complex problem is conquered by the most simple solution.  The words “sick” and “twisted” are not things that are bad, in our world they are uber.

Talk about timing…heard a great quote in our project status meeting this morning that reminds me exactly of your point….

“A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral.” -Antoine de Saint-Exupery
