People always seem to be asking for samples. We've had a lot of feed back lately that its not always easy to find samples to get started with developing Business Objects or Crystal applications. We have started a number of initiatives to make it easier for all of our customers to find the resources they need to get started.

I have found that generally the resources are available, but we just haven't done a good enough job helping you find them all. Hopefully we can get that solved in the next couple of months. The problem comes from the fact that these resources are often spread out in different places.

In a recent meeting with my manager he pointed me to a number of Visual Studio samples that I was not aware of. In my years at Business Objects the majority of my time has been spent on our Java tools. Just in the last year have I been really ramping up on the .NET technologies.

Sometimes you can't see the forest from the trees.

Here's how you find the samples I was yet to discover.

On the machine that has Visual Studio 2005 installed. In "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Crystal Reports\Samples\en\Code" you can find a file called TutorialSampleCodeProjects.msi. Doubling clicking on the file will prompt you to install a set of visual studio samples.

This collection contains 90 Crystal Reports for Visual Studio sample applications.

If you are not already aware of these I hope you find them useful. I know I will.

Please note the samples have been updated and are available here. Tutorials update msi
