Today marks the expansion of our Business Process Expert Industry Communities. The Chemicals Industry pages join the existing Consumer Products Industry pages. With that you can see a newly organized navigation node for Industries and under that our two industry area homepages:

.

For those wishing to submit community contents, there is also a blog topic for Chemicals and the appropriate metadata blog tag.

    Hi Marylin,

I very much appreciate the special attention and dedicated platforms given to verticals.

May I ask why this isn’t acccompanied by dedicated industry solution forums to discuss specific issues?
A top node for industry solutions is already there in the forum hierarchy.

I would like to see such a forum for each of SAPs industry solutions, my special interest would be one for Healthcare.

    Regards,

Thanks Anton.  We appreciate your interest and request.  Having the community express interest in a particular vertical (industry) is one of the best ways to help us push for forum creation.
We could do that corresponding to the industry pages being built out now (Chemicals, Consumer Products, for example) or we could start creating industry discussion forums in areas where the community shows interest and has content to discuss.  Do you think it would be worthwhile even without formal moderation commitment?  Do you think there would be enough critical mass of conversation in an industry forum that has no corresponding webpages at present?

        Hi Marilyn,

IMHO it wouldn’t do any harm to anyone to create a dedicated forum for each of SAP’s industry solutions and it might promote the communication within those verticals.

If I’d set up a place like this I would probably start with an industry specific forum and create a more editorial place only after the forum frequency proofs some critical interest in industry specific topics. I do not believe that (more than trivial) moderation is necessary at first hand. Moreover I believe that a forum and the WIKI opportunities allow a community to form bottom-up.

These days there was a thread on ‘Suggestions & Comments’ asking to reduce the number of forums. Well, this makes me ask myself if I am wrong with my suggestion. At least it shows that there are different points of view on that topic.

Well, I don’t know. Good luck to ‘Chemicals’ though.
