New survey is on the air! How many times have you asked yourself: “Why doesn’t SAP Enterprise Portal have this feature?” or “I have a new idea for the EP, but who will listen to me?” This blog is your chance to influence the future. It’ll contain surveys that will change every few weeks. Some surveys will be general surveys asking your opinion and offer you to share your feedback ,and some will be about specific new features that will be introduced in the next SP’s.

All surveys and documents are moved to our new topic. Thanks, Eliel & Tal.

The link to the survey is not working, can you please check it.

Also, another good feature would be access to the CSS classes to edit directly.   At the moment you can use the Theme Editor which is limited or Export the Theme, manually change the image or value and Import.   There is the feature to browse through Support but you cannot modify.

First, all the portal functionality should work in EP as mentioned in the release notes; this has to greatly be improved. Who will listen to me?

Good example is, this survey link doesn’t work and this blog has posted four days ago, how long I need to wait?

Honestly I can wait, but not my end users.

    When coming in to technology,

The collaboration workflow (Tasks) is little bit difficult to understand for a normal end user.

It has to be simplified and also the email communication needs to be improved when the task has been initiated.

This is the great functionality in the real business scenarios if it works perfectly, Please could you review this functionality?

          Hi,
Currently it’s not planned to insert this to NW04. but perhaps in future versions that is possible.

          Regards,
          Tal.

Hi…we really are seeing some great value from the Nav Zoom feature.  However, when we deep link into the portal via quick links & nav zoom, we don’t want the link “Back to Main Portal” to appear.  How can we eliminate this link or change the link text and/or link URL?  This would be a very important improvement to a great concept!  Please advise…

Hi, Tal…and thanks very much for your reply.  So there is no other way to remove this link or change it other than to customize the masthead par file then?  Was hoping for a much easier way like via a config or the theme editor.

Buut thanks for this info…we may elect to customize the par.  Do you know of some real good step-by-step blogs or articles/content anywhere that a Portal Admin with little Java background could reference as a guide in customizing the masthead par file?

Also, to answer your question, we want to remove the link or modify it because we have some portal apps using both SharePoint & NetWeaver Portals and most of the drill down is over in the SharePoint side for these apps and then a quick link with nav zoom is used to obtain a lower level structure within the NetWeaver Portal (like for Travel Expense Statements) and then, when done, the user just simply wants to close the Netweaver Portal window to go back to the SharePoint side.  We have many other scenarios for wanting this too…all dealing with interoperabilit6y between portals in a dual portal environment.

        Thanks, Tal

Hello again, Tal…I really appreciate your feedback…thanks.

We decided to try customizing the header to change the text of the “Back to Main Portal” link in header.  Based on the information that you put in this post, we changed the headeriView_nls_en.properties file and restarted EPD.  That didn’t change the text.  We then found that the file headeriView_nls.properties had the same “Back to Main Portal” parameter.
We removed it there and restarted the instance again, but it’s still showing up as the original text.  Please let me know if you have any more information on the change.  Maybe there are other files or sometimes VM (Virtual memory) files that need to be removed before a restart.

        Thanks again, Tal…

          Hi Butch,

Have you put the updated files into the par file and deployed it on the portal?

Try first cleaning(removing) the masthead par file, and then deploy it. no need to restart the servers to see this change.

          Thanks,
          Tal.

Hello again, Tal…thank you for the assistance.  We modified the par file via NWDS & publish back via NWDI and we were able to successfully eliminate the link (just commented it out).  Thanks so much for putting us on the right track by telling us the code file needing changing.

Suggestion for future enhancement in this area (Nav Zoom “Back to Main Portal”)…please make this configurable.  Customers should be able to easily change the text displayed for this link (like change to “SAP Portal”) and even change the URL link itself (branch to any valid URL link)).  Also, please make this link optional (hidable) for each navigation zoom point setting.  So for every nav zoom point, customers can choose to show this link or not and can choose to change the link text &/or the link itself.

I can provide several excellent supporting reasons for why customoers would like to have these enhancements implemented…just let me know if needed.

              Hi Butch.
              I’m glad this works!
Thanks for your enhancements suggestions, we will consider them for the next version.
We would appreciate any concrete reasons/example of using these enhancements.

              Thanks,
              Tal.
