You may ask yourselfs…Alvaro has written an ABAP Book? Why? Simple my friends -:)

  • There’s no updated Spanish ABAP Books…The only one known is from 1985…
  • A lot of people (Non english speakers) can’t give all they’re potential…Just because they can’t read the docs…
  • I’m not Horst Keller…If I write an ABAP Book in english…Would you buy it? I don’t think so…But in Spanish, it’s another world…

This blog is not make some sells…specially because mostly SDNers doesn’t speak Spanish…This blog is to share my happiness -:)

I think you have done a great service for the spanish speaking programmers.Any programming language should not be restricted by language and everyone should be able to utilize it to its maximum potential.

    hats off to you !!

    Alvaro,

    My congratulations!

Writing a book is a huge effort, I even consider it is more complex then writing code, seriously.

But writing in own language (ok, in non-English) is even harder.

By the way, did you have any problems with translation of well-known English technical terms into Spanish? In English-Russian translation, for example, it is easy to translate “rollback” (sounds like ot-cut in Russian), but it is more problematic to translate “transaction” (and just transliteration is used) and it’s simply impossible to translate “commit” (different authors uses different terms).

Complete chapters for PHP and Ruby… I guess your book is first one that consider usage of dynamic scripting languages with R/3 😉

Thanx to all for you kind comments -:)

    Craig:

Yep…Lulu.com is just great! Thanx again for the Tip -:D

    Ravi:

You’re right, and now I think that with the help of my book, more Spanish speakers will come to the SDN.

    Valery:

Yeah, it was hard but when it’s done, it feels just awesome -:D
About the translation…when, it wasn’t that hard…for example Transaction = Transacción, and for Commit and Rollback…hehehe…I didn’t need a translation for that, because those two are ABAP Keywords I didn’t need to translate them -;)

And for Ruby and PHP, they are more like small chapters -:) Just and intro to the language, the connector, and some useful examples -;) Something to get them looking for more info on the SDN -:D

    Anton:

Thanx a lot Anton! Actually I was expecting some of your “acid” comments -:P Thanx buddy -:D

    Hi Blag,

great to hear that you’ve written this book. I rearly like it that you also put PHP and Ruby in connection to R/3 in the bootk too.

    Hi Blag,

You never stop to amaze me. Bummer that I can’t understand Spanish.

Question regarding Lulu, do they only print once someone orders? Would it be possible to update the cover? Like do an additional line between “El Arte de Programar” and “SAP R/3”? Just wondering.

    Love the initiative, Mark.
P.S. May be we should open some language specific forums after all.

      Hi Mark:

Yes, it’s only printed when someone orders -:) I’m going to check if I can modify the cover…It should look better with the space…

Yes with Lulu.com you can do eBook or printed when ordered (still a fast response) can even order an ISBN number for your book so it can be sold in stores as well and the cover (art) as well as entire book is basically up to you.

It’s an awesome service – been using them for awhile now and Alvaro was looking so when I told him he thought he’d give it a shot.

Looks like he has is first “revision” now as well.

Yeah…I change the cover as Mark told me -:) The SAP R/3 looks so small…So I make it bigger -;)

Without you Craig, I would be still looking for a publisher…Thanx a lot for that -;)
