Dear community,

with my second blog I would like to follow up my last contribution and call your attention on a Symposium on Direct Store Delivery (DSD).

As outlined in my last blog, Direct Store Delivery (DSD) is a key method of selling and distributing products for a large variety of industries. In the Consumer Products Industry, DSD is one of the strategic key growth areas as the process delivers a broad range of business benefits to all parties of the value chain (e.g., ensuring the desired level of product availability at point of sales with a proper product presentation on shelve, enabling the access to prime market information, increasing the efficiency of innovation and introduction of new products). Today, 24 of World’s Top 30 Fast Moving Consumer Goods companies employ the business process DSD.

In the context of our recent scientific researches regarding the business process of Direct Store Delivery (DSD), I would like to inform you about a (non-SAP) event which would might be of your interest. The University of Regensburg and the Springer Logistics Academy will carry out a Symposium on Direct Store Delivery (DSD) in Frankfurt on February 14, 2007 . This will be the first Symposium regarding the business topic of DSD in Europe in recent times.

The approach of this Symposium is to bring together various parts of the DSD business process in order to drive the communication and a share of experience between these parts along the value chain. For this, not only the Consumer Products Industry perspective, rather more all aspects of the value chain will be considered (e.g. Retailers, Wholesalers, Logistic Service Providers, Software Companies, Scientific Institutions).

At the Symposium, there will be presentations from companies out of the different areas of the Direct Store Delivery process (e.g., Nestlé, Danone, Coca-Cola, Metro Group, Dachser, Intermec, SAP). The most compelling findings of the performed Global Analysis on DSD will be a starting point for further conversations.

Please find the program as well as the registration form of the DSD Symposium here.

In case of any comments or remarks please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you very much for your attention.

Best regards,
