The New Code Snippets Forum

I’m happy to update that code snippets have a new home here on SAP network. Starting today you will be able to find code snippets in their new forum /community [original link is broken]   I will slowly be adding those snippets already in my possession and I hope to receive a lot more. Each code sample will award his/her submitter with 10 points. According to community feed back exceptional codes will be eligible for more points. The content should be submitted, as usual, via the Content Submission System  Thank-you to all of you who already contributed and to all of you whom I know will shortly send!

Gali (and Craig et al) ...

This is a exactly what the doctor ordered, but to be maximally useful, the forum needs to be divided into categories, with the first and most important dichotomy being:

      1. CriticalPath Operations
      2. BellsAndWhistles Operations

Category (1) is what SAP really needs to help support its ES(O)A strategy, whereas category (2) is what developers need to keep a certain kind of customer happy (and perhaps themselves as well.)

What I mean by this is that if I'm writing an ES(O)A service and need to know how to go after some critical but unindexable table in some SAP application, I don't want to have to wade through reams of posts on how to make the CEO's bed vibrate when 3rd Quarter earnings beat the Street's expectations.

Vice-versa, if my CEO tells me she'll fund ES(O)A projects ONLY if I can make her bed vibrate when the system detects good news, then I want to search category (2) snippets and forget about what's in category (2).

Category (1), of course, is exactly what I tried to sketch out in my LV SDN-Day talk presentation and in this blog post here:

Part 6a of Event-Driven Tutorial on WDABAP Component WDR_TEST_UI_ELEMENTS

So I would also like to suggest that if and when the Code Snippet Library takes off, you give it a real front-end like the one I've been developing in the last two tutorials I've posted here, not just a search engine front-end.

OK David if your CEO wants that let me know and I'll give you hand πŸ˜‰

Otherwise this is just a temporary solution so we don't plan on getting too detailed with it as we have much better things planned for the future πŸ™‚
