Recently there has been many weblogs on widgets here at SDN by Tarun Telang, Frederic Samson , Eric Wood , http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/u/12937 [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken]  & others. Though i have been using widgets, never attempted to develop one myself until these weblogs came up and stirred my interest.. Thus decided to get my hands dirty and started with developing a basic/simple widget. Since this is my first attempt, kindly bear with me if you feel this is very basic and the code is not so elegant.

For this case i have taken Alessandro Guarneri‘s The specified item was not found. and converted it to a widget. This is a simple basic version where you can launch shortcuts for a particular XI system. Try it yourself and feel free to share your thoughts on this.

You can download the widget from here

SAP XI Quick Launcher Widget Download

To run this you need to download & install yahoo widget engine.

Check this SAP NetWeaver Administration Gadgets – Getting Started by Tarun Telang on how to install yahoo widget engine.

How to run this widget.

Once yahoo widget engine is installed, unzip the downloaded xi_shortcuts.zip and double click on the extracted SAP XI Quick Launcher Widget (xi_shortcuts.widget) to see the widget. Before clicking on the links in the widget, right click on the widget and choose Widget Preferences. In the resulting window set your XI Host server name and port and click save.

Now you can click the links to see the widget in action.
