And the winners are …
SAP TechEd ’06 Demo Jam Winners Nine teams representing SAP employees, customers, and partners presented demos Tuesday night at the third-annual SAP Developer Network Demo Jam at SAP TechEd ’06 in Las Vegas. And the winners are … First Place – Dan McWeeney and Ed Hermann of Colgate-Palmolive, with SAPlink – Changing the SAP Ecosystem. SAPlink is a project that makes it easier for programmers to share ABAP developments. It provides the ability to easily distribute and package custom objects. Second Place – Matthias Zeller of Adobe, with Using Adobe Flex to Build Rich Internet Applications on Top of Enterprise Services. Matthias’ demo extends a demo presented by Marc Chan at SAP TechEd ’04, titled “Exposing Web Services in ABAP,” by enriching an ABAP web service with an Adobe Flex-based user interface. In the demo, Matthias activated a web service of the popular sample flight database. He then consumed the web service with the Adobe Flex Builder IDE and developed a dynamic data grid, Yahoo! Search integration, dynamic charts, and a video messaging window. Finally, Matthias compiled and ran the application in the Firefox browser. Third Place – Tarun Telang of SAP Labs India, with SAP NetWeaver Administration Gadgets, a set of widgets for performing common SAP NetWeaver system administration tasks such as system status monitoring, log viewing, Java Application Server start/stop, browsing DTR, and system availability history analysis. Videos of all the demos presented will be available next week on SDN.
