From how to optimize you portal performance on the network to how to set up and administrate portal content. From where does my portal fit in my IT infrastructure to finding our what is new to the NetWeaver portal. The one place this year is at SAP's TechEd events.

There are a number of sessions related to the NetWeaver Portal. Most will be found in the User Productivity Enablement tract. Best Practices for Implementing an Advanced Portal Infrastructure

Today your company might use portals for several purposes like a central corporate portal, distributed departmental portals, a supplier portal, or an external information portal. With SAP NetWeaver 2004s, SAP supports new portal scenarios like external-facing portal and federated portal network to implement these scenarios easier.

Moreover, your portals might interrelate with other SAP NetWeaver capabilities like knowledge management, collaboration and user management resulting in increased complexity. In this session, you will get an overview about the new capabilities of SAP NetWeaver Portal and how these capabilities can help you consolidate and optimize your portal infrastructure. Based on practical use cases this session demonstrates how to implement a secure and advanced portal infrastructure.

Times, Rooms:
Wed, 8:00 a.m.–10:00 a.m., Palazzo J
Fri, 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., 4004–4005

Based on these scenarios, specific functionality of SAP NetWeaver Application Server for Java and SAP NetWeaver Portal, which impacts overall system performance are presented. Also the external facing portal functionality as well as SAP NetWeaver Application delivery over WAN is discussed.

Integrating and Administrating Portal Content Efficiently

Organizing and maintaining content efficiently is crucial for simplifying administrative tasks and increasing user productivity. Within SAP NetWeaver Portal you can use several tools and methods for integrating and managing content. Optimizing these administrative processes can lower the total cost of ownership (TCO) of your portal landscape considerably.

Within this lecture you will learn more about different strategies for integrating content. This covers the concept “Control Center / Work Center”, which aims to organize portal content in a user-centered and unified way – this can easily increase end user productivity. Moreover you will get insights into different advanced administrative topics, like adjusting the portal to your corporate design, implementing content caching and using monitoring tools.

Times, Rooms:
