If you are a devoted reader of this blog series, you should now have a profound understanding of the WS-I Sample Application Blog Series: Web Service Implementation Strategy of SAP’s new WS-I Sample Application core functionality and WS-I Sample Application Blog Series: Securing the WS-I Sample Application. In this last installment, we’ll demonstrate the usage of the Sample Application and test interoperability with another vendor’s Sample Application that has also implemented the WS-I Basic Security Profile Working Group Draft. This will take us through a detailed walkthrough of the user interface and we’ll also have a chance to look at the advanced logging and monitoring features that are important for interoperability testing.

Current status of the work in WS-I

You might have noticed that all Sample Application packages for BSP from the WS-I Web Site are currently only available as a Working Group Draft. Even though the vendors did intensive interoperability testing against each others implementations, the packages are not final because the actual BSP conformance tests with the WS-I Testing Tools had not been conducted when these 'beta' packages were published. Now that the BSP Testing Tools are available, each vendor is verifying its implementation and WS-Security stack internally against the BSP 1.0 Test Assertions and the publication of the 'final' WS-I BSP Sample Application packages is planned for autumn this year.
