A person standing near the coffee bar , whom I had thought that I have met him the day before at lunch time, seemed such a familiar face to me.

I went upto him and told him "I know you sir but you might not recognize me". He looked baffled and then looked at my batch. I looked at his batch and then suddenly realized that I had mistaken the identity..FLIPPP. Jovial man as he seemed to me, turned out to be a CEO of an enterprise based at Bangalore. We exchanged business cards and ideas on SAP..

Funny the meeting seems , but thats the way we network and form a common ground for the people to meet across the platforms.

The event "SAP Summit-2006" held at Mumbai, was a huge success with over 2000 customers, partners and employees, inclusive of the SAP executives.

The people continuosly kept pouring in amidst the parallel tracks running on various industry verticals. From the business to technical, every one had something or the other to attend. 3 Days did not seem to be enough to visit the Exhibition area and attend the tracks.Lots of new things, lots of new rollouts by SAP and its partners like Duet, XApps etc.

Motto for the summit "Accelerating Innovation. Energizing Growth" , was true to the core. Each of the presenters, special mention to Mr. Santrupt Misra, who is the Director-Corporate IT and HR, Aditya Birla Group, very innovatively described how questioning ,new vision , new learnings from various industry, can help each of us to grow in the industry by constantly innovating .

The other keynote Addresses by Alan Sledghi, Donna Troy , Peter Kirschbauer, Sean Thompson, Hans Peter, Sameer Somaiya, Georg Kniese and many others emphazed on the need to innovate and grow by forming the alliances, networking, allowing to learn from each other experiences, constantly refining the processes, taking an early lead in the technology, sharing ideas and hurdles too!

Focus of the Summit was ESA (Enterprise Services Architecture) and SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) is the way to go.

SAP Showcased its new product "CRM on Demand", which brings a fresh new interface, also being used in further versions after CRM 4.0. "CRM on Demand" is the lean interface for the companies who want to get the feel of what CRM can do for them.

"DUET" (a weblog by Some Duet Thoughts gives more information on it ) formed as by coming together of Microsoft and SAP, is another milestone in making SAP more simple.

"Project Muse", another feather in SAP's cap also needs special mention.More information on Project Muse can be obtained from weblog by Project Muse-- New GUI for SAP .

The various partners of SAP who had put up the stalls in the "Exhibition Area", also catered to lot of knowledge for the various products they have made as per the alliance between their company and SAP!

SAP in India is growing and so also SAP made announcement and congratulated "Rajiv Plastics" being the 10 thousandth customer of worldwide SAP Business One.

SAP in India has come a long way, can be realized just at the growing strength of SAP Labs in India with establishing a new development center at Gurgaon, alongwith growing strength of its employees at Bangalore center.

Between attending presentations and exhibition , a statement which caught me( and many others ) by one of the presenters from SAP itself was as implied As India doesn't have a football team, germany too doesn't know about Cricket.
Its all about sharing and coming to common platform like SAP Summit which helps us evolve in so many forms.

While returning back from the Summit, I realized , I gained an insight into the market trends, SAP's products for various industries and establishing contact with so many people across the industry verticals, a couple of them infact being the one's whom I had lost contact with during the course of time.A very well organized and managed event. The only thing I missed at Summit was SDN...!!!! Unlike at SAP TechEd, SDN -its community was difficult to be seen, though its presence was still felt in the couple of presentations.

Way to Go SAP..Well Done!!
