Jeff Nolan, runs SAP Apollo Group at SAP, pointed out there would be a bloggers corner at SAPPHIRE '06 almost one month ago. It is time to see what is going to happen at this corner.

I came across Staying Ahead of the Pack (SAP) by Dennis Howlett today and I found out that Jeff Nolan invited 10 independent enterprise bloggers which do not include me  I believe independent bloggers mean that they don’t work for SAP.

Niel Robertson says:

  1. It's the first I have heard of a company (SAP) officially sponsoring a blogger corps as part of their media outreach at a conference.
  2. Our happy little bloggers corps is being treated in the same fashion as press. We are taking up residency in the press room and have press-like access to setting up meetings with key SAP executives and such.
  3. The bloggers in this group are independent in the sense that we write about Oracle, Microsoft, SF.com and other enterprise software companies on our blogs. We have no special affiliation to SAP (for example my company Newmerix is an Oracle partner, but not an SAP partner - yet!). But, we do understand the landscape from all sides very well (I can't speak for myself, but  I have met a number of the bloggers in the group and they are all smart cookies).

They set up a SocialText Wiki called SAPPHIRE ’06 Orlando. It is open to public. I signed up to this wiki to see what is going on. It is very exciting to meet these bloggers on the same platform. Even I started humble contribution to this wiki.

I think what Jeff Nolan does is a great example for companies. Beside the press; bloggers are another kind of PR activity. Bloggers are like independent journalists, but not exactly. Maybe we will see bloggers next press in other big events.

I will watch these bloggers. Let’s see!
