UPDATED: Food for Points
If you are a Weblogger or Contributor did you know that you are eligble for a T-Shirt? I mean some of you may say “Wow a t-shirt, big deal” well to be honest isn’t it though?
Take a look at these people they seem quite happy to have one! By the way if you have pictures of SDNers with an SDN Contributor t-shirt, please post them on Flickr and give it the tag: sdntopcontributorstshirts.
Who is eligible and how do you get one? Well as Mark told us awhile back there are actually two different types of T-Shirts available.
For the SDN Member shirts the x stands for your point total. The shirts start with:
- 1/4K = 256 Points
- 1/2K = 512 Points
- 1K = 1024 Points
- 2K = 2048 Points
- 5K = 5000 Points
Now this means two things, one if you are a Weblogger (approved and have published at least one Weblog then you can get one of those shirts and second if you have more than 250 points then you are eligble for one of the SDN Member t-shirts listed above.
Now there has been quite a bit of confusion about how to get your t-shirts, so I am here to tell how we’ve attempted to simplify the process. Keep in mind we are working on this process so your input is greatly appreciated!
Update:: In your SDN Business Card there is a field for address, now you must fill in this field, you DO NOT need to make it visible unless you want to, simply fill it in. Then a bit further down is a field for Additional Info, what we ask is that in this field you put T-Shirt: [size] just change the [size] to XL,L,M or S. Then each week when we update the “Crossign Over” section of the Contributor Corner Homepage we will email those on the list and ask that they ensure their mailing address and T-Shirt size is correct then we will send out the T-Shirts. This means if you do not update your Business Card and do not give us a T-Shirt size you will not get a T-Shirt.
Oh and before you ask, most SAP employees will not be able to alter their address field, in which case do not despair we will find your in-house mailing address and either bring you your shirt or mail it to you.
Now in order to implement the system we asking everyone to please have patience and give us some time, sending out T-Shrits to so many people has proven to be very challenging and we are doing our best.

We are only shipping you your current point shirt so if you are sitting with 600 points you will recieve your 1/2K shirt and not the 1/4K shirt.
Once the process starts (normal reporting) in April then each time you cross a milestone you will receive the next shirt. We will then be shipping each week.

I am still waiting for my 1/2 K T-Shirt. I have crossed that mark long back in November. And now on the verge of completing 1 K mark. When will I recieve my 1/2 K T-Shirt?? I have already updated the information on the Profiles Management. What else to do 🙂

I had send u my T-shirt size and updated the address on Feb28th. I would be glad to know the status of the same.
Morover, While applying my number of points were around 300-400. Few weeks back i crossed 500. And now with 558 points. So can i again apply for a 1/2K T-shirt 😉

So if I emailed you asking for your t-shirt back in Feb. and you gave me that then one should be on the way, if your address was wrong or you changed it then you would have to wait for April.
However we got things finished up sooner than April and for those in the "Crossing Over" section of the community corner (if your info was up to date and only about half of you had done it) then a t-shirt will be on it's way. If not you need to update your info and the NEXT time you cross a milestone that shirt will be sent to you.
Anjali - your shirt was on the list as your data was all up to date so that will be going out shortly.
My information was all uptodate since the time I joined SDN.
I got a weblog published around a week back but have not got any mail regarding the T-Shirt for weblog. Will the mail come by itself or do I need to do something for that?
Also, I have crossed the 250 point mark this week - does it meant hat next week I will automatically get a mail regarding the 1/4 k t-shirt?

This week I sent off the first list for t-shirts to be sent out for those on the "Crossing Over", https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/docs?rid=/webcontent/uuid/6927cccd-0501-0010-4f8f-fbb5fa062365, list: not everyone on the list had their t-shirt size and address updated so only those with their information updated will receive a shirt - we will not be going after each person asking for the information anymore. So if your name was on the list from March 14 to March 26 and your info was up to date a shirt is being sent out to you.
This sounds kind of harsh but with some many people eligible and so many shirts to send it's become a process - once it is running we will endeavor to make it better and more personal again so Mark and I can start sending personal thank yous to each person like we used to. Please give us a little more time.

Again we don't want to be harsh and we want everyone to get the shirts they have earned but with so many it's just not possible at the moment, we first need to get the processing running. Afterwards we will discuss sending out the "older" shirts as well but for now it's only for the current shirt each week when the "Crossing Over" list is compiled. That and I've been told that my budget was approved and I can continue to send the iPod mini's each week for one random winner!

recently I crossed my 2K points from SDN Forum. I'm still waiting for my SDN T-Shirts for my 500, 1000 and 2000 points means total 3 shirts is yet to receive from SDN community. Can u please let me know when can I receive the same.

My infomation was updated on my business card long ago and after that i crossed both 1/4k and 1/2k and infact in my office i helped people to fill the business card by sending the link from your weblog, and they all have received the T shirts last week, March 3rd week,06 But i am yet to get. I am on verge of 1k now but still i am yet to receive a email from SDN seeking address confirmation and T shirt. Honestly, T shirt is not a factor, but SDN t shirt is a big factor for me :)I just love and admire SDN.

Approved webloggers that have actually written a weblog receive a t-shirt that says they are a weblogger on SDN. It's just a simply black t-shirt with white text.
Now if you've gone out and fought for more than 250 points you have a chance to get one of several different colored t-shirts. So for example you have 250 points we send you the one t-shirt, then when you pass 500 you get another one.
Basically two different things, I guess that didn't come across clear enough?
I'm still waiting for my T-shirt, Applied twice but there is no response yet.. its better SDN provides the status to the respective persons who requests for the T-shifts to their E-mails.

Now the first shipment went out and the second shipment is going out this week. If I remember correctly your name was on it and you'll be getting yours in this shipment.
As for the process we are reviewing it and trying to come up with better ways to distribute them.

I am waiting for a t-shirt since the St. Leon-Roth event. At that time I was over 1000 points, now I have more than 2000 and additionally posted my first weblogs. I am asking myself the same question as Rich.

Sorry that you had to wait for your T-Shirts for so long. This new approach is an attempt to streamline the process and get up to date with all the shirts. Actually the first 4 went out yesterday, although not yet via this process.
Curious to hear when they arrive. Pictures please.
Regarding the Weblogger and the K-Shirts. We had the Blogger shirts first and set up the rule you blog you get a shirt. We have not followed through with that in a while. We don't want to change the rules in the middle. Therefore it stays until we run out of them.
That there are many one time Bloggers may be shows, that it is harder than some people think to come up with good content and stand the scrutiny of the community.
Once you are a 2K member I don't think you want to run around with 1/4K do you? I don't. This is why we will send out your current status and once we are up to date then in a timely fashion the next one. Or so we hope.
Sorry again, that it took us a while to get our act together. It's just great to have these additional 4 hands that Craig seems to have 🙂

I too have the same question which Rich and others have.Currently I am in 2K club but did not receive a single T-shirt till date.
How the things are going to work out.Every 250 points I will be getting a T-shirts or only one which says 2K SDN memeber?

You will receive a t-shirt for your current point total, after that then hopefully we will have the system working ssmoothly and you then receive your next t-shirt for your next point total!
Reminds me of intramural sports in college...the real prize is being able to wear a shirt that says "Intramural Champion"...

In addition, I think, SDN Business Formals, should be rewarded to the contributors. In absence of SAP Certificates, contributors will have another way to impress the panel while appearing for a job-interview.
Also, I suggest that keep the standard to be 500 points onwards for this one 😉
You can't say it's a biased suggestion as I am still far from having 500 points.
BTW, I am not expecting a serious answer on this neither the suggestion was one.

Unfortunately that one is vintage, which is so funny for SDN being just about 2 years old :-).
It was the staff T-Shirt of the SDN Team working at the TechEd 2003 booth handing out T-Shirts. There are only about 20 of them around.
The 5K T-Shirt is actually modeled after that one. Can't wait to cross that line.

I have had several problems with shipping to India.
First, I received an e-mail on Jul 15, 2005 "SDN T-shirt givaway..." and reply to it on Jul 25. More then a month passed but I received nothing... 🙁
Then I filled in on-line form on SDN for T-shirt in end of August, but again (now is mid of October) -- nothing. :((

Before this new setup, I requested for my 2K t-shirt using the web form. What I got was a 1K t-shirt. This is my second 1K shirt. I know 1K plus 1K can be 2K, but I would really love to have a 2K, so that I too can show off like Mark.

first, I think it would be great to have a chance to get a new shirt some time even if one has passed the "5k" line - whereupon I ask myself, why the 5k are out of synch of 2^n?! So even if this would lead to a change, originally I would suggest to kill the 5k shirts and to introduce 4k, 8k, 16k (that's probably enough for the next year). And even if you want to hold on this strange 5k (where the "k" is a different than in 4"k"), maybe you should introduce the 10k now, or don't you like the shirts, Craig 😉 (being one the two beneficiaries for such a shirt at the moment).

Now I know many people are still waiting on their shirts, and all I can say is that we aare sorry it is taking too long but the logistics have proven to be harder than we original thought BUT we are working on it!

We are working on it and hopefully we'll have a large shipment out before the end of the year but unfortunately I can't promise anything.

Last week I got my first SDN T-Shirt; I supposed to get a well-known SAP Blue fashion shirt, but you know, it was a RED one...surprise !!!
Anyways, I’m happy but for next one I have changed the size to “M” since “L” seemed to me “XXL” 😛

Few Days ago i had crossed 500 points and Won iPod for 14th week..Now i have crossed 1024 also..i supposed to receive 1/2k T-Shirt but till now i have not received neither Tshirt nor iPod...i will be getting both 1/2k and 1k T-shirts together??? and what about iPod??you meiled me back that you have already e-mailed them..but there is no response from them....
