Lets come together, volunteer and create ISUG (India SAP User Group) !
Dear All, India is missing several golden opportunities to educate, network and influence in the world of SAP by not having a dedicated India SAP User Group ! Once formed and run, ISUG can provide immense benefits to SAP customers, corporates and individuals. Similar on the lines of ASUG, the mission of ISUG should be to continuously educate customer members, facilitate networking among SAP users, SAP practioners and SAP representatives, and influence future SAP product releases and direction. We can design and execute programs with these objectives in mind. We can create and fulfill great opportunities for Educating, Networking and Influencing by creating and running ISUG. Please share your thoughts on this. In case some of you can come forward as volunteers and work together on this, we can make this happen. regards, Sanjeev
The dream is that ISUG will be a SAP customer, professionals and partners run SAP resource.
It will provide a unique opportunity for collaboration between India-based SAP customers, SAP professionals, SAP partners and SAP.
ISUG will provide year-round member benefits in order to serve the SAP customer and professionals base in India.
The mission will be
- Continuous Education for members
- Sharing of knowledge, ideas and experience with other members
- Facilitate Networking among members, SAP partners and SAP representatives
- Influence future SAP product releases and direction
We will need to identify the first steps towards founding ISUG. Since most of SAP customers and professionals would be available virtually to begin with, it seems the first step could be to create a web community hall (web site) to allow customers and professionals to join in.
More suggestions on this will be helpful.
regards,
Sanjeev
This is a really great idea. I would like to join the ISUG and carry on with my contribution towards SAP

This is one of the better initiatives that I have seen to make SAP users in India share and learn. I see its utility from day 0 ! Even the idea and the zeal it has evoked from colleagues is heartening. With my experience of managing and supporting many online groups, I will be glad to contribute in any way.
Best Regards,
Nishant
CAn you please add my id too in this group.
Thanx in advance

I appreciate the initiative taken by you. I would like to be the part of forum, is it open to NRI's as well?
Best regards,
Dharmi
Excellent suggestion , I would be glad to be of use in any way. You have made a stab at thing to be done by way of putting together a list of objectives .
We could also get together a charter and one more thing we need to look at is to whether we need to model ISUG similar to ASUG or more of the lines of the Linux User Groups (LUGs).
Just some thoughts...
my 0.02...

My best wishes for your effort and please let me know if I can be of any help.

Thanks to SAP for recognizing the importance of ISUG initiative, nurturing ISUG idea, giving prime space on SDN Home Page and spreading the ISUG message in a great way.

It appears to me that we would need to focus on two things to convert ISUG into reality:
1) ISUG Design (may include web community hall design, membership types, identifying SMART goals, communication strategy, organization structure, participation mechanism, community types, events types, infrastructure requirements, funding mechanism, time commitment required from members etc.)
2) ISUG Implementation according to above design (may include first steps for rollout, launch event, reaching to members, running the ISUG, performance review against the objectives and appropriate proactive/correctiove actions, continuous improvement etc.)
So ISUG Design and Implementation could be the mantra towards ISUG manifestation.
Please suggest more on this.
We can proceed towards Design phase accordingly.

Sanjeev

Thanks for coming forward, encouraging and offering the great help. Each message and contribution from SAP SDN Members and SAP Community Members is precious and highly valuable. Its helping ISUG to become a reality.
ISUG is planned to be a not-for-profit, independent organization run by SAP Customers, Users, Professionals, Partners with active participation from SAP.
Definitely the mission is to deliver a great value to everyone touched by ISUG.
As in case of any initiative, we have to begin with customer needs analysis.
Who will be the customers of ISUG organization and what needs such customers have, which need to be fulfilled bu ISUG...
ISUG Customers:
We should cater to 4 types of customers.
1) SAP Customers (Companies with SAP installations – represented by CIOs, IT Heads, IT Managers)
2) SAP Users and Consultants (SAP Users, Consultants, Managers, Practioners working with SAP Customers and Partners, Independent Consultants)
3) SAP Partners (Companies which are SAP Partners – represented by SAP Practice Heads, Practice Managers, CTOs, Product Managers / Architects, Sales Directors, Sales Managers)
4) SAP (SAP company itself. Represented by SAP Representatives)
A detailed customer needs analysis is given below:
1) SAP Customers (companies with SAP installations – represented by CIOs, IT Heads, IT Managers)
The Value SAP Customers need from ISUG:
a) Keeping abreast of SAP directions and changes
b) Validating their SAP practices with opinions from a broad base of counterparts/SAP customers
b) Keeping abreast of SAP partner product offerings
c) Need a platform to share their own SAP experiences and need to understand experiences of other SAP customers
d) Influence and shape SAP products
2) SAP Partners (companies which are SAP Partners – represented by SAP Practice Heads, Practice Managers, CTOs, Product Managers / Architects, Sales Directors, Sales Managers)
The Value SAP Partners need from ISUG:
a) Keeping abreast of emerging SAP customer needs and identifying business growth areas
b) Communicate their product offerings to SAP customers
c) Enhance the brand visibility and brand value
d) Need Recognition of their SAP partner products and SAP expertise
3) SAP Consultants and Users(SAP Managers, Users and Consultants working with SAP customers and Partners, Independent consultants)
The Value SAP Consultants and Users need from ISUG:
a) Keeping abreast of what is happening latest in the world of SAP
b) To be educated on latest SAP products and technologies
c) Need a forum to solve real-life, real-time project problems
d) Need a platform to share their own SAP knowledge, experiences and need to understand experiences of other SAP community members
e) Recognition of their SAP expertise
4) SAP (SAP company itself. Represented by SAP Representatives)
The Value SAP needs from ISUG:
a) An organized community of SAP customers, partners, professionals and users which will allow to get timely feedback on product directions
b) Such community can provide growth impetus and spread consolidated good words to SAP prospects
c) Positive Media attention and coverage
Please share your thoughts on ISUG Value Drivers and Customer Needs Analysis. Accordingly we can finalize Step 1.

This is a very good initiative and I think one name for the domain. It can be AISUG.COM
Where AISUG stands for All India SAP User Group. I also reserved the domain name for this purpose and if this name seems to be good for every one, I can transfer this domain to the organization.
Please let me know and again keep up the good work!

Due to some confusion, I referred Sanjiv as Sudhir in my previous email.

We need your help...you may have noticed many great people have come forward to help in ISUG cause. But we don't have their contact details e-mail/phone). That makes it difficult to pass on ISUG related info to them. Please suggest how to create a mailing/contact list of people keenly interested in ISUG formation. In case you can anchor and manage this activity, it will be great help.

Affordable courses on speciality topics in Abap OO, BW, Workflow could be organized esp. in Kolkata!
Call it IndSUG as "I" is for Iraq Iran Iceland Ireland Israel ... or HindSUG as in Jai HInd!
