- You have downloaded the ZIP File and your target system fits the requirements.
- You have installed JDK 1.4.2_08 or higher (not 1.5) and rebooted your system.
The Slim Edition does not contain a System Landscape Directory. So you cant develop Web Dynpro applications which need to call RFC enabled Function Modules. Also no Portal and Knowledge Management is included.
Uninstall Previous Versions
If you have a previous Sneak Preview installed you have to remove it first. Also you have to remove any installed SAP-DB or MaxDB. The MaxDB can be uninstalled via the Control Panel -> Software but all Databases must be empty. In the SDN Forums I found Uninstalling MaxDB:
dbmcli -d J2E -u control,control db_stop dbmcli -d J2E -u control,control db_drop
After this commands as local administrator on the command line you can Uninstall MaxDB.
Extract the ZIP File
With Windows XP you can directly double-click on the File SAPNetWeaver04SneakPreviewSlimSP11.zip and you will see the content:
Select all folders and files and drag & drop them to a temporary folder. I would suggest C: emp because Windows have some problems with long directory names. After extraction you have this content in folder C: emp:
Make sure that your actual user have local administrator rights. Then Start the installation with a double-click on Start.exe. Now your default Web browser opens the Documentation Website which is saved atC:TempDOChtmlindex.htm. Unfortunately the navigation on the right- hand-side does not appear with Firefox 1.0.6. Also the my Internet Explorer blocked some content and I had to enable it by clicking on the Warning an choose Enable Blocked Content:
Now you can navigate Installation and check the requirements again. If they are ok start the Installer by clicking on the Link or run C:TempSAPINSTNTI386sapinst.exe.
If you have not rebooted your system after JDK 1.4.2_08 or higher installation you will get this error message:
A Reboot of the computer helps.

Now you can start the SAP Management Console
Also have a look at the J2EE Server Homepage at http://localhost:50000/:
