Install your own Portal in the ‘Bring Your Own Box’ Portal Party at SAP TechEd ’05 Boston and compete for iPod nanos sponsored by Intel!

What is a ‘BYOB’ Portal Party? At SAP TechEd ’05 Boston that means bring a box, install the Portal & have fun!

At SAP TechEd ’05 Boston this year, SDN is hosting a BYOB party, where participants can “Bring your own Box“, (either a laptop or desktop) and using the latest tools and accelerators from SAP, our team of portal experts will help you install the SAP NetWeaver Portal in less than one day – and have fun while we’re at it.

You bring the box, SDN and Intel will bring the pizza, beverages and prizes for a night of fun. And, the box you bring home is a working prototype that you can connect to your own systems. Hi Gregor,

Unfortunately TechEd in Vienna is before Boston, we struggled to get everything together for this event in Boston, unfortunately we are not able to pull this off in Vienna.

      May be next year, Mark.

      Hi Gregor,

What Mark mentions in his reply is true... BUT, that doesn't mean that SDN can't consider hosting a workshop in Walldorf sometime in the future.

      Best, Marian.

One quick question, why no XP (SP2)?

      Hi Raymond,

XP is not officially supported by the SAP NW Rapid Installer, however it 'can' be used.  We've actually installed portal on XP many times w/ the Rapid Installer.  However, XP is not really a box that people will use as their development system, and our goal is for you to leave the workshop with a system that you can bring home and start developing on, or connect to your company's SAP landscape.

All you folks attending Tech Ed .
This is a Must Attend Event.I was fortunate to attend this BYOB Portal Workshop presented to Northern California ASUG a couple of weeks ago. This presentation is really worth the effort of lugging a server along to the workshop. Marian and her team have really put together a extremely beneficial workshop.

This would rank as one of the best technical training workshops for hands on Portal support available.

      Best Regards
