The end objective of the Web Applications Project within ORGA (a fictitious organization) is to create a portal solution that will provide a hybrid Solution for content management of ORGA.com and a partial migration of ORGAIntranet.com for the Group companies without retiring any of the applications that may have a potential to affect business and to be finally syndicated under one single portal for ORGA by facilitating the phasing out of third-party applications and migrating all key business processes onto the SAP NetWeaver Platform. All this with minimum disruption to the business.
The Scope of Operations
The scope for the same will encompas standardizing processes with ORGA.com, which is the public website and ORGAIntranet.com, which is the employee portal. The aim is to transform the same onto a single technology backbone with SAP EP, this initiative is being looked upon in ORGA as a drive to centralize and drive IT initiatives towards Enterprise Services Architecture (ESA) compliance and the deployment of standard business processes across various ORGA organizations.
The ESA Roadmap
This session will be driven by the business need to phase out redundant applications, explore options for solutions with SAP Enterprise Portal, build on areas where SAP EP does not provide a complete solution mapped to the business. Using this landscape and solution consideration points, we will be using this business case to lay down the ESA roadmap for ORGA in the years to come.

The details of the same can be found on: http://www.sapteched.com/emea/edu_sessions/session.htm?sid=439
The Solution Architect Approach
We will use this case as a starting project in for a Solution Architect to lay down the ESA roadmap for ORGA. As the time limit may not permit us to present to you many ideas that we would want to share with you, I request you to vist https://www.sdn.sap.com/sdn/developerareas/netweaver.sdn?page=cccp_series.htm for whitepapers and demos that bring forth ideas from live experiences onto this forum from a Solution Architecture – marrying up business and technical – standpoint. We will be discussing the gory details of areas such as Content Management, Human Workflow engine, Unification, Technical solution options around architecture and others.
I would have loved to blog the details here, but it is too much stuff. See you there…..
