SDN Tips: “Searching for Code Samples”

Craig started out a series of SDN Tips for us. The first two are:

SDN Tips: “Weblogs Related to…” and SDN Tips: “Making my article more visible”

I’d like to continue a topic that was brought up in one of those blogs: searching for Code Samples on SDN.

Perhaps some of you are unaware that Code Samples are classified as Downloads in the SDN Search dropdown on the upper left-hand area of the screen.

To find, for example, all ABAP Code Samples, you can go to the Search criteria, enter ABAP Code Samples or simply ABAP in the first entry box and use the dropdown in the second entry box to select Downloads.

Pressing GO should bring you a result set that looks like this:

The hits that are most likely ABAP Code samples should and do float to the top of the hit list. You can use the same search to see Java Code Samples and a couple of XI Code Samples as well.

The Downloads Search criteria also brings back official content in the form of Evaluation Software and even Tools.
By the way, to contribute your own code samples you can go to Submit Content on the Top Navigation level where you will find a “Submit your code sample” link.

cheers, Marilyn

      Hi,

I must say that you community managers out there are doing a wonderful job by elaborating features of SDN to the community. These help new comers as well as the older ones learn how to put the site to the best possible use. Thumbs up and keep them coming.

      Regards

I'm afraid this blog is now dated with the introduction of the wiki.
To look for new code snippets, have a look at this Code Snippet Gallery.
