Transport System for Java

Reading the real  BIG thread for the  weblog  “Why ABAP Performs Better in Portal Development than Java” – Hmmm  I must say I was astonished about the many times mentioned opinion that there is no transport system in Java. Clearly this is true for most of the Java development systems, as Java IDE’s mostly come with source revision systems and there it ends.

Not so with SAP’s Java environment delivered with SAP NetWeaver. This actually does have NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI, formerly JDI) which definitely already comes very close to the ABAP transport system.

I don’t want to repeat what other, better specialists on NWDI have already said and published on SDN. Here is a collection for introductory advice:
The article title=”/library/webas/Supporting Developers from Project Start to Finish” class=”urTxtStd” id=””>Supporting Developers from Project Start to Finish  written by my colleague Wolf Hengevoss is the shortest article I found about NWDI/JDI.
More informations up to the very detail are available in the NetWeaver manuals under Working with the SAP NetWeaver Java Development Infrastructure.

When searching the SDN please think about searching also for JDI, as the more introductory articles are older and therefore under this old name.
