I have arrived in Walldorf, actually sitting in a very dark SSC building (not the one in the picture and they call it differently now too) and Jet-lag is catching up with me. So here some more info. Reminder tonight Monday 18th 19:00 (7 pm) o’clock unofficial SDN Meets Labs Kick Off at the Marktstube in Walldorf (Hauptstrasse 20).

Craig wrote in one of his posts that the  SDN Meets Labs in Walldorf should be at least as good as Palo Alto.

Well there are 300 SDNers coming together in Walldorf/Rot versus 100 in Palo Alto. Therefore from the quantity the event should be at least 3X as big.

Bring your digital camera, after the event there should be three times as many pictures tagged with sdnmeetslabs on Flickr.

Three times as many people should show up at the Marktstube tonight for the unofficial kick off. I called them to make sure that they are open and don’t have a big event themselves. We have a green light from them. I told them that there will be between 30 and 50 people, they said that 20 people is a big difference and whether I could give them a better estimate. If you are going, can you please post your name here. That would help. See you there.

Keep an eye on the Weblogs, more updates to come soon.

    Hi Mark,

hope you find some sleep. Unfortenately the “Post your name” link does not work. This is the error message:

    End-User Feedback Service
    Error Message
The given campaign does not exist.

So I post my name here: Gregor and Meinrad will come to Markstube. But we will arrive I think between 8 or 9 p.m.

    Looking forward seeing you.

In about a couple of hours, I’ll be told if I am going to make it or not. If a visa is granted, I’ll be flying at around 20.30 tonight (+5 GMT), and reach Frankfurt tomorrow at around 07:00 in the morning. Its a tough call but I hope I’ll be able make it for the conference. Mark has been putting in quite an effort in pursuading the German Consulate in issuing me a visa. He even sent the invitation letter during Easter holidays. Thanks for that Mark. I hope to see you and the rest of the guys in Rot.

    Regards

BTW, if I do make it, can someone suggest the quickest possible route to reach the Fairway Hotel, Opelstraße 10, in Rot, from Frankfurt airport? Should I take a train, bus or a cab? A detailed reply will be highly appreciated.

Cab will be very expensive! From Frankfurt to Rot about 100Km, expect cab ride to be many 100 Euros. 🙁

There is a bus every hour or so from Frankfort Airport to Heidelberg, and then you still need another 25Km to Rot. Can consider cab then. Look for Lufthansa Airport shuttle.

If quick if your requirement, I would suggest that you book a transfer service. They pick you up at the airport and drop you off, either Walldorf or Rot. Costs are totally acceptable. (About twice that of bus.)

The most flexible is of course the train. From the airport take a train to Heidelberg main station (“Hbf” is the abbreviation you want). Then take a train from Heidelberg to Rot. From Rot station take cab or walk about 15 minutes by foot.

If you send me an email (name.surname@sap.com), I can lookup numbers of some transfer services for you.

Keep in mind that you might require up to an hour to clear passport check and customs in Frankfurt, depending on how busy they are.

I won’t be in the Marktstube for I’ll arrive tomorrow morning about 7.20 am at the Frankfurt airport. I have rented a car so I can take one or two passengers. If you want to join, mail me at my.name@sap.com
Note that this is one way, my family is probably coming wednesday evening.

    Best regards
      Dirk

Unfortunately I caught a cold over the weekend… Mark knows that I never miss events like this, but I think it is safer I go to bed early to be fit tomorrow for the Demo Jam (I will be rpesenting Interactive Forms).

    See you tomorrow!

The good news is, there is free Wifi at the SDN Meets Labs in Palo Alto.
Unfortunately the Webcating fell through 🙁
But we are taping all sessions and will make them available as soon as we can.

    See you soon, Mark.
