Scenario:

We have j2ee cluster 6.40 Production Web AS environment. We have used 2 identical HP RP4440 Unix B.11.11 servers to build our Production java cluster. First One contain Central instance (with db in it) and an additional dialog instance. 2nd server contain two more j2ee dialog instances. I faced a peculiar issue during the installation of first dialog instance in the 2nd UNIX server.

Problem description:

SAPINST failed to create the Instance and Start profile for this node! Following errors were found in the SAPINST installation logs.

Instance profile specific error was,
***** Transaction begin ********************************************************
FSL-02015 Node /sapmnt/PC2/profile/PC2_J03_vuh779 does not exist.
***** Transaction end **********************************************************

Start profile specific error was,

***** Transaction begin ********************************************************
FSL-02015 Node /sapmnt/PC2/profile/START_J03_vuh779 does not exist.
***** Transaction end **********************************************************

What did I do to solve this issue?
I needed to copy the instance profile from the previous node (took it from the first host), used it as a template for the new node, and adapt the values for the new instance. Adjusted the Unix permissions appropriately and restarted SAPINST. It found okay, then I did the same action for the start profile. Restarted SAPINST,and installation was then able to proceed.
