Like everything SAP does, TechEd is big. It's huge. It's gargantuan. Thousands of people have to be fed, entertained and above all informed of SAP's newest technologies. I can't cook very well, and I'm not necessarily that funny so when it was suggested to me to present at TechEd I thought I'd go with option #3: inform you of SAP's newest technologies, or more precisely one technology: SAP ViewPoint.

How hard can it be? I naively thought to myself. Well, harder than I expected for sure. Finding who runs the show and who can get me on the session list was the smallest hurdle to overcome. Figuring out how to make it worth your while to attend the session and preparing all the material was a much bigger challenge.

My main role at TechEd will be to co-present the "Introduction to SAP ViewPoint" session along with Himanshu Pande. This session is your best bet if you want to learn about SAP ViewPoint. You'll learn the principals and benefits of SAP ViewPoint, how to deploy it in your organization, and where it stands among SAP's offerings. As an added bonus of attending this session, I will also tell you the location of the best coffee shop in San Diego. 🙂 Can't miss that.

All attendees of the session will receive a copy of the SAP ViewPoint Technical Preview CD. The preview includes extensive tutorials that will provide you with hands-on experience as a content creator, an administrator or a user of SAP ViewPoint. During the session I'll demonstrate how to use the Technical Preview to set-up your own SAP ViewPoint server.

Himanshu and myself will also man the SDN Clubhouse. We'll be there to answer any question you have about SAP ViewPoint on a one-on-one basis. Rumors are circulating that the SDN Clubhouse will have quite a few large screen XBoxes set up so it's definitely worth checking out.

If you need another reason to attend TechEd, let me remind you it's held this year in what is possibly the most beautiful place on the West Coast: San Diego. With sandy beaches, sunshine and the best weather on the planet, why wouldn't you want to go? But for those of you who still resist, all the presentations of TechEd, as well as the Technical Preview of SAP ViewPoint will be available for download on SDN starting in November.

Hoping to see you all there!
