Create SAP Transaction iView using SAPGUI for Windows
Because of a recent /thread/13871 [original link is broken] in the /community [original link is broken] I post this as my first Weblog.
This is a step by step HowTo create a SAP Transaction iView using SAPGUI for Windows in the Enterprise Portal 6 SP 4. I’ve used SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP4 NetWeaver Stack 2 Developer Workplace Sneak Preview from the Download Area of SDN.
To keep the description as short as possible I’ve only described the required entries. These are highlighted in bold.
Prerequisites
- Portal User with the rights to create a System in the System Landscape and to create an iView
- Username and Password of a Backend SAP System
- Connection information of a Backend SAP System
Used System Information
Parameter | Value |
---|---|
Application Host | gateway |
SAP Client | 000 |
SAP System Name | TOR |
SAP System Number | 00 |
Server Port | 3200 |
Create R/3 System
First we create a R/3 System in the System Landscape with the System creation wizard.
- Logon to the portal and choose from the navigation System Administration -> System Configuration -> System Landscape
- Select your the folder where you want to put the system in. If you don’t have a folder for systems create a new one.
- right click -> New -> System
- Select SAP_R3_Dedicated
- Click Next
- Step 2: General Properties
- Enter System Name TOR
- Enter System ID TOR
- Save System as System
- Click Next
- Step 3: Summary -> Finish
- Choose your next step: Open the object for editing
After the basic settings through the wizard we now specify the settings for the backend system.
- Select Property Category “Connector”
- Enter Application Host gateway
- Enter SAP Client 000
- Enter SAP System Name TOR
- Enter SAP System Number 00
- Enter Server Port 3200
- Click on Save
To use user mapping for the backend authentication we have to set some properties in the category “User Management”
- Select Property Category “User Management”
- Select Logon Method: UIDPW
- Select User Mapping Type: user
- Click on Save
As the final step in R/3 System creation we must add a System Alias.
- Edit: System Aliases
- Enter Alias: TOR
- Click on Add
- Click on Save
Maintain User Mapping
After creating a system in the System Landscape we can now edit the User Mapping.
- Click on Personalize
- Select User Mapping
- Select the System TOR
- Insert valid Username and Password for that system
SAP Transaction iView
Finally we create now the SAP Transaction iView.
- Click on Content Administration -> Portal Content in the portal main navigation
- Select the folder in which you want to create the iView
- Right click: New -> iView
- Select SAP Transaction iView
- Click Next
- Step 2: General Properties
- Enter iView Name: TOR
- Enter iView ID: TOR
- Save as: iView
- Click Next
- Step 3: Selection of Application Variant
- Select SAP GUI for Windows
- Click Next
- Step 4: Application Parameter
- Choose System: TOR
- Enter Transaction Code: SE80
- Choose Start Technique for SAPGUI for Windows: Automatic Detection
- Step 5: Summary
- Choose X Open for editing when wizard completes
- Click Finish
- Click on preview
Got us started though!
thanks for the hint. I've corrected it.

Gregor
This was helpful, but why do I have to save or open something before the Iview will run?
Thanks.
do you mean the sentence "Choose X Open for editing when wizard completes"? I think I should correct it to "Check 'Open for editing when wizard completes'".

Gregor
I followed all the stages you mentioned and when I start the iview, a prompt for save/open window is openned (which I know how to deal with), but, if I choose open I get that the server can not be reached (but I know the system works because I use it with MSS iviews), when I save the shortcut file, I see that the "GuiParm" contains a value in the format of "/H/server/S/3602" insteade if GuiParm=server 02.
Does it look right ? I can't get it to work.
Thanks
Eitan
what version of SAP GUI are you running on the client?

Gregor
I have generic question?
When you use SAPGUI for WINDOWS, do we need SAPGUI installed on the client, if yes what are the version restrictions?
Thanks
Rajesh Anumolu
SAP GUI for Windows has to be installed on every client. I think SAP GUI 6.20 is the best. I've heared some problems with 4.6 in the forums.

Gregor
Thank you
Rajesh
I have similar type of problem like Eitan.I followed all the stages you mentioned and when I start the iview, a prompt for save/open window is opened but, if I choose open I get the openwith list, then i choose internet explorer, nothing happened. if I choose save, i get a file named
"pcd!3aportal_content!2futtam!2fSSO4R3!2fConnect2ERecruit". Pls suggest what to do next ?Thanks in advance.
we also have this problem from time to time. Currently we are on EP 6 SP 7. It helps to clear the browser cache, deactivate HTTP 1.1 and start the SAP Logon/Logonpad before using the iView.

Gregor
Could anyone suggest more on giving X509Cert logon for Transaction iviews.
Regards,
Thomas.
If we create SAP GUI Type as WindowsGUI SAP GUI is required on the Client PC.
If we create SAP GUI Type as Webgui ITS server is required which we want to avoid because of performance issues.
We want to make use of WAS6.2 on R/3 to launch the iviews by means of SAP Gui type as Javagui.
Pl if you have the procedure on similar grounds pl forward the same at ypprabhu@bajajauto.co.in
Thanks in advance.

I created 2 different iview transactions on my portal, with User&Password authentication.
I have sapgui installed, so SSD and SSF for me have the sme good result: it shows me the userid/pwd request for my backend system (R/3).
I would like to insert user/password only the first time, and keeping these information (at the level of the portal), so that every other time I try to access to my backend system I can access directly: in fact, a sort of Single SIgn On...
Is it possible?
Thanks in advance

How can you pass a R3 parm/value (like AEN for the Engineering Change Master number) to the transaction CC03?
I've looked at the EP documentation for the SAP Transaction iView, and followed instructions.. but it did not work. I have the following set in the iView:
Application Parameters - AEN=500000000019
AEN is the parm for the change number in SAP. I've also tried AENNR (the field name) and 0100_AENNR (the screen and field names).
If I get this resolved then one further question... can I build a WebDynpro to pass these kinds of paramters to the iView on 'CLient Eventing'?
I followed the steps,But after I preview the iView the SAP GUI opens and gives error "The connection to Partner broken" and shows some error Component Network interface
Release 640
version 37
Method NiPRead
Can you please help me solving this problem?
Thanks,
Preeti
Hi Gregor,
Am new to SAP Portal. For one of our requirement am getting below error message.
Requirement is to create IView for SAP Custom T Code. We created it from IView Folder --> Right click --> New --> IView --> Select 'IView from Remore Source".
In Search In - We selected System Alias name
Search For - Given custom T Code
In Appllication Type - Selected "Transaction"
Then click on GO
Then Move the TCode from avaliable application on Left hand side to "Selected applications".Click on Next --> Then click on "Start Upload".
IView craeted succesfully. When executed this for first TCode - it is succesfull. When we did the same for another TCode - we are getting below error message.
"Connection to the Partner "XXXX" Broken. Do You want to see the detailed error description"
Can you suggest if this error is due to Incorrect IView creation or is it due to Connection Problem??
