Recently I wrote an article about Macros, RFC, and Perl.  Even though this article covers a number of topics, there is one thought that I really want readers to take away from it, and that is there exists an untapped possibility, of binding other programming languages to ABAP.

This has the potential of making available to ABAP programmers, the vast resources of code that exist in other communities – especially the open source ones.  I mention in particular, the Perl community and it’s CPAN repository, that contains applications spanning the breadth and depth of computing, but there are many other Language based communities too, such as:

and others, that I am less familiar with.

It would give me no greater pleasure than to see this kind of expansion happen to the SAP world, that may indeed release the Jeannie from the bottle!
