I discovered the answer today when I get a message that Kjetil had arrived in Walldolf and would I like to meet up and chew over some ideas? Kjetil is one of our most respected and reliable workflow forum posters and he has been doing this for many years. I have no idea how many consultants or customers have stood in front of seemingly insurmountable problems before popping a question into a forum and minutes later getting a suggestion back again. Whether or not it helps to rub a lamp to get replies, I don’t know. But I guess I’d been rubbing my hands a lot recently thanks to the very favourable report in the German IT Paper Computerwoche, rating SAP’s workflow number one.
Anyway, there he was and we spent a pleasant lunch discussing the merits of e-mail notifications (which SAP is in the process of extending) versus tight groupware integration to workflow (which SAP is phasing out – obsolete now that we have the SAP Enterprise Portal universal worklist).
Kjetil is one of the many human faces behind our forum communities. The nice thing is that the posts don’t just spread knowledge, nudge good ideas into a product, and obliterate ignorance but they also take on very real personalities. Kjetil is no exception and even though it took more than three years to meet face to face it was a magical moment. And this is what Kjetil looks like sitting outside the Walldorf cafeteria.
