My partner-in-(code)-crime Piers Harding and I are speaking at this year’s OSCON (Open Source Convention). What can the desperate open source hacker do in and around R/3? Plenty! If you’re going to OSCON, come along to our talk:

Integrating SAP R/3 and Open Source & Open Protocols

last thing on Wednesday the 9th to find out about “extending and embracing” R/3 with open source tools and protocols. The more the merrier!

But how does the open source hacker in get hold of the tools to develop with R/3?  Not many coders can afford an R/3 license to be able to experiment with.

How about SAP hosting an R/3 environment that OS coders can apply for access to?  Then the floodgates would really open…

I had a look at this page, and notice I cannot order the “Technology Test-Drive for on Linux, Basis R/3 4.6B”. I guess this means I’m onto a non-starter developing at home.

Or perhaps that a new release is on the way?
