The SAP Global IT team doesn’t work to win awards; they work to provide the most comprehensive support for the global SAP organization. But hey, everyone likes recognition. And in 2012, the SAP Global IT team has enjoyed an unprecedented winning streak.

As of the third quarter, Global IT has received the following honors:

2012 IT Strategy Award

SAP Global IT won the prestigious IT Strategy Award for 2012. The judges praised many areas of the team’s IT strategy, including the way Global IT has helped SAP achieve its overall business strategy – and is on track to help the company reach its 2015 goals.

Most Social CIO in the Fortune 250 2012

Early this year, harmon.ie set out to find the most socially engaged group of CIOs in the Fortune 250 and Global 250 lists. Oliver Bussmann was identified as the #1 most social CIO leading the way in the Fortune 250. Oliver’s score of 9824 gave him a commanding lead over #2 ranked Benjamin Fried of Google, who scored 7758.

IT Architecture Award of Excellence

SAP Global IT is the joint winner of the iCMG Architecture Excellence award in the category Enterprise Architecture. The team overcame stiff competition from 37 global players, including IBM, Intel, Cathay Pacific Airways, EADS, Fraunhofer CNT, and Mahindra.

2012 German Innovation Award

At a ceremony in Munich, SAP won the German Innovation Award in the “Large Enterprise” category for its SAP HANA platform. This prestigious award is backed by Accenture, EnBW, Evonik, and the German business journal Wirtschaftswoche.

European CIO of the Year 2012

Jointly with European Business School INSEAD, CIONET’s European CIO of the Year award recognizes chief information officers based on the type of business value they bring to their organizations. SAP’s Oliver Bussmann won the “Client-Driven CIO” award category for 2012.

MIS Asia IT Excellence Awards

SAP Global IT won the “Best Emerging Technology” category for its work in mobility. As of early 2012, Global IT scaled up its infrastructure and deployed more than 3,600 devices running on Apple iOS, and more than 50 devices on Android. By then, more than 120 applications were available to employees on an internal app store.

European IT Workplace of the Year 2012

SAP Global IT was a recipient of the very first European IT Workplace of the Year 2012 Award in the category of more than 1,000 employees. We shared the award with two other companies, Arvato Systems and Cancom.

Computerworld’s Best Places to Work in IT 2012

Global IT US was selected as one of Computerworld’s 100 Best Places to Work in IT 2012, ranked at 43 out of the top 100.

Information Week 500

Global IT played a supporting role in helping SAP rank 84 on this year’s InformationWeek 500 – a list of the top technology innovators in the U.S.
