Last week I took part in my first Live #SAPChat and I had a great time – it was a lot of fun.

I really enjoyed the direct interaction and would like to thank those who took part and the lurkers who observed. A BIG thank you also goes to the entire team (SAP Marketing & Global Communications) for making it happen – proof that collaboration leads to fantastic things.

I love numbers so here are a couple relating to the #SAPChat.  We covered 36 topics in 60 minutes and spoke about many SAP Runs SAP topics, for example how we are implementing our own mobile strategy and how we are using SAP HANA solutions internally

Users love cloud storage services like DropBox and iCloud for their power and ease of use. IT managers hate them for the ginormous potential for data leakage and loss they create. But clamping down on them isn’t so straightforward.

At the SAPPHIRE conference in Madrid last week, SAP CIO Oliver Bussmann gave a talk to fellow CIOs about how SAP is using its subsidiary Sybase’s Afaria MDM software to secure the 11,000 iPads used by its employees.

Driving innovation has become one of the key roles of the chief information officer (CIO), says Oliver Bussmann, CIO at business software maker SAP.

“CIOs should be at the top table to drive business transformation,” he told Computer Weekly. “SAP has set a goal of being a €20bn company by 2015, and IT is one of the most important levers in achieving that business growth,” he says.

Wow, it feels like it’s lunchtime, but it is actually 6:00 p.m. The day has flown by that fast.

I am learning so much at this event but feel bad that I can’t be everywhere at once. There are so many things to see and do.
It’s been another fun, action-packed day. The place is teeming with executives, employees, customers, and partners. I love it!

I love my job. That’s why I’m still happy despite the fact that I’ve been on my feet for 12 hours straight. (My day started before sunrise, and even though the sun has now set, it isn’t quite over yet.)

Hi,

This is my very first SAPPHIRE NOW and SAP TechEd and I want to take you with me.

My name is Anita Riegel, and I am the editor-in-chief of the SAP Runs SAP blog. I’m also a gadget geek. I’m armed with my iPad, BlackBerry, and laptop (OK, so I am old school too), and I am not afraid to use them.

I am writing this post on my laptop (as I said, old school) whilst on the plane from Frankfurt to Madrid. Only a curtain divides me from the business-class passengers and their free food. (I had to pay for mine.) I thought I would make the most of my time on the plane and read through some SAPPHIRE NOW and SAP TechEd material to see what Global IT has planned in our SAP Runs SAP floor space.

My first reaction is “WOW”. I know I often claim that SAP Global IT has a packed SAP Runs Run agenda, but I ain’t kidding, it’s bursting at the seams. SAP Global IT is very well represented with a variety of experts, and thanks to our colleagues within the Global IT events team (who always manage to rock the house with their efficiency), our Global IT evangelists will be available and accessible throughout the show.
