Delivering the first full presentation of the International SAP Conference for Banking yesterday morning, Chris Skinner of the Financial Services Club laid out his vision for the bank of the future. That bank is mobile, for a world where mobile devices have replaced credit cards and ID cards. It facilitates peer-to-peer financial transaction.

I was very happy to launch the International SAP Conference for Banking in London today, looking together with our clients, our partners and our colleagues at the next few years of banking development.
For SAP’s 3,700 banking customers, spread across 120 countries, there is little doubt the kind of bank they want to be, even as soon as 2015 will have a different shape, different strategies and different spending allocations from their current model. It’s easy to say that banks want to run better – but what does that mean for a bank in 2012, looking out to 2015 and even further beyond? Today all banks are facing the same three core issues and drivers, to a greater or lesser extent: risk, cost and growth.

SAP Banking Conference 2012 – Wrap-Up
Simon Paris, Head of Global Banking, talking about the key takeaways of the International SAP Banking Conference, and challenges facing banking industry.
After an evening of relaxation and conversation at the Honourable Artillery Company, with its six acres of beautiful gardens set in the heart of London, attendees at the International SAP Conference for Banking reconvened at the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel for a day of discussion and discovery.
The day began and ended by addressing the changing technological basis of banking, and the trends SAP is leading: Hans Tesselaar, Executive Director of the Banking Industry Architecture Network, delivered the opening keynote on the need for standardisation in banking technology to allow banks to become truly agile. And, for the final presentation, Bobby Carney of Citibank joined Sanjay Chikarmane of SAP to close the event with an introduction to corporate payments using a secure cloud solution.

A Revolution on the Move – Mobile at the SAP Conference for Banking
Listen to Matthew Talbot, SVP Mobile Commerce for Sybase 365, talking about the mobile revolution in banking, and the way SAP is helping banking customers to stay ahead.
The mobile revolution was high up on the list of priorities for many of the customers and partners at the SAP International Conference for Banking – and not just in the dedicated mobile presentations.
Dave Curran of Commonwealth Bank of Australia warned against thinking that “a mobile solution” was a single product: customers want to do different banking tasks using different devices at different times of the day. In fact, banking on tablets by CBA’s customers in Australia peaked during the TV talent show The Voice. When tablet owners were sitting down to watch TV, they took the opportunity to catch up on their banking tasks.
