Cloud computing is here, and it signals that there is an inflection point for enterprise computing. The emergence and rapid growth of cloud players like Salesforce, Taleo, Workday, Successfactors, Concur, Amazon, Azure, and so on show that cloud computing has become a viable mode for the enterprise and that the consumerization of enterprise IT is underway. So, in a meeting on a Thursday we see a demo about how ridiculously easy it is to create an SAP HANA application. Literally you import the data in to SAP HANA Studio, expose the functionality via some Web Services (using SAP BusinessObjects tools) and then push it out to just about any device. Someone says “why that’s as easy as baking a cake” and thus an idea is born.
