Welcome to the twelfth and final step in the Waste Management E2E Process for All Countries Blog Series – South African Example!

In this final step, you will create and generate the actual waste transportation document (paper or electronic) type into a form which accompanies the waste shipment to the waste disposal facility. This final step is important because this is the form that you will need to track and monitor your waste and keep for future use.

The creation and generation of forms is called Output Management for Waste Transportation Documents and it is based on SAP S/4HANA Output Control.

To start, you need to create a document type. For this series, the Hazardous Waste Manifest Document of South Africa form type was already created in Waste Management E2E Process Blog Series Step 7: Creating a Transportation Document Type.

Next part is to follow the SAP Note 3216976 to set up, customize, and use Output Management for Waste Management. This SAP Note gives detailed instructions on the initial set up and configuration for the creation of the form based on SAP S/4HANA’s Output Control mentioned above.

After you have followed the SAP Note 3216976, you need to map the channel using the Specify Output Channel for Document Types Customizing activity. This Customizing activity specifies the output channel, a logical connection through which data can be transferred, of a waste transportation document type, the previously created Hazardous Waste Manifest Document of South Africa, which is seen and used in the My Waste Transportation Documents app. It also specifies the status that immediately follows In Review in the My Waste Transportation Documents app, in this example it is Submitted

Note: The In Review status is manually set and shows that the transportation document is under review and in read-only mode until acceptance of the document is confirmed from the disposer. The lifecycle status of In Review must be included when using the Specify Transportation Documents Status Customizing activity in Waste Management E2E Process Blog Series Step 10: Defining the Waste Transportation Document Lifecyc... and if you want to be able to edit the fields Date (for the transporter) and Total Confirmed Quantity, then you need to also edit this in the Specify Transportation Documents Status customizing activity.

Submitted Status set in the Customizing activity

Once the waste transportation document has been Sent, through an output channel, in the My Waste Transportation Documents app, to the correct government agency tasked with environmental protection matters, the document will then be automatically set into status Submitted.

When in the Submitted status, the form can then be generated. See, Generating Forms for more information on how to do this.

You have now completed the task of creating and generating a waste transportation document form which now completes the blog series for end-to-end process of Waste Management

This series has been created to show you how to use the on-premise Waste Management solution that best fits the needs of customers in countries/regions outside of our pre-delivered features for Germany and the USA.

For more detailed information, follow the links in the previous blogs or see Waste Management (EHS-SUS-WA).

We appreciate your attention and hope this blog series has helped you in your pursuit of waste management!
