VERSION State - when does it change from "active" to "inactive"

Hi,

SYSTEM --> PERFORMANCE --> PRIVATE VERSION STATISTICS AND ANALYSIS

There is a dashboard which shows the status of the versions as either "active", "deleted", "inactive".

When does a version become "inactive" and does it consume less HANA memory if it is "inactive"?

Is an "inactive" version essentially archived or what value does it have to the end user or administrator to know that a version is "inactive"?

Regards,

Noel.

  • A planning version becomes inactive when it is automatically unloaded from the memory. In this context, we are talking about working memory (RAM). It is persisted from RAM to the hard disc by automatic unload during the night.

  • An inactive private planning version is persisted on the hard drive. It is available for the following planning tasks. If it is published or deleted, it has the status deleted. The advantages of knowing which private versions are inactive are that I can report on them and delete those that are no longer needed. In addition, the reporting shows the size of the versions and I can see how the amount of data is growing, and I can also see which versions are very large and introduce planning areas or set limits if necessary.
