CAL - Subscription ends / product license

Hello,

we have a question regarding what happens to an instance after the subscription to SAP CAL ends. Currently we have an active subscription (which is about to end/needs to be renewed) and use it to deploy a solution (S/4HANA fully activated appliance). However, the Product license is about to end, as it only was a test license.

So the first prerequisite "To own SAP Product Licenses for the required solution" won't be fulfilled anymore, within the next few days. Thus it does not make sense to renew the SAP CAL subscription, as this is the only use case for us.

Now we are wondering what is going to happen to the instance (of the solution), after the product license is expired and the CAL subscription is canceled. Will it be deleted? Or will it remain in an "inactive"-state so that we can pick up things where we left, once the product license issue is resolved?

Hello Mark,

When the SAP CAL Subscription expires, the instance will be suspended, not terminated. You could continue to use it when you meet the already mentioned prerequisites again.
